From the Religous School Council
Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Religious School Council, we are delighted to welcome you to an exciting and transformational year at Congregation Solel Religious School. We are thrilled to welcome Geoff Prass as our new Director of Education. As you will learn, he comes to us with years of experience, wonderful ideas and lots of enthusiasm. We are also grateful to have all of last years’ teachers returning this year. Their commitment to teaching our children makes our Religious School the outstanding educational institution that it is. All together, this promises to be an exciting and successful year of Jewish learning.
You may not be familiar with the Religious School Council, so we want to tell you a little bit about what we do and to invite you to become involved. By being a part of the RSC, you can really make an impact at Solel. You may not realize that, as a lay-run organization, we are involved in decisions about almost every aspect of the school, from developing the budget to setting the traffic schedule. The work that we do really makes a difference in the day-to-day running of the school.
Our primary purpose is to support the Director of Education. We also work closely with the rest of the Solel professional staff, including the rabbi, to smoothly integrate the RS into the larger Solel community.
Our Festival Chair people, room parents and other parent volunteers help to plan and implement holiday programs for our students, families and the whole congregation to enjoy.
We represent the interests of the RS by serving on the Board of Directors.
We invite you to share with us your thoughts, time, and talents. Be a part of all that is new and exciting at Solel, while helping to ensure the continuation of our excellent program. Why not join one of the committees that help make the Religious School a rich and joyful learning experience for our children? Our Religious School Council meetings, held the second Thursday evening of most months, are open to the Congregation. Of course, you are welcome to contact anyone of the RSC if you ever have a concern, question, or suggestion.
We are looking forward to many new activities this year such as a picnic following Tashlich, a family service and dinner on Erev Sukkot and a revival our youth group programming. Please watch your emails and the online Solel calendar for upcoming events.
We look forward to working together on one of the most important responsibilities of our CongregationÂľthe Jewish education of our children.
Shalom,
Laurie Schnittman and Carrie Rivlin
